Fourth Annual Ryan Pappas Memorial Scholarship:

Deadline April 5, 2019

The RYAN PAPPAS MEMORIAL FOUNDATION is seeking to grant two $1,000.00 Scholarships to Lewis Palmer School District 38 seniors (one for Palmer Ridge and one for Lewis Palmer). Each scholarship will be awarded to the candidate who demonstrates character and kindness in their life,  and has a desire to further their studies through continued education opportunities (academic or trade school).

These scholarships are offered in Memory of Ryan Pappas. Ryan lost his life on September 1, 2014 as a passenger in a car with a teenage driver who was under the influence of marijuana and alcohol — the start of his senior year in High School and three days after his eighteenth birthday.  Ryan was passionate in his relationships with friends, teammates, family, and community. One of his greatest attributes was his ability to make others smile. He shared his joy for life generously. Ryan was always good for a laugh or a meaningful hug!

Ryan was active in his community in both big and small ways. He was involved with his family, sport teams, and youth group. A mission trip to inner city Dallas and community service projects around Northern El Paso County gave him a greater understanding of the joy of serving others. During the summer of 2014, Ryan also worked with the D38 ESY (Extended School Year) summer school program assisting preschool children with special needs – I believe that he had as much fun as the children!

Ryan lived life with passion, cared deeply for others, and truly LOVED his family and friends – we thank God for the beautiful time that we had with him here on earth.    (written by Susan Pappas, Ryan’s mother)

The Ryan Pappas Memorial Scholarship is a one-time $1,000 award for a Palmer Ridge and Lewis Palmer High School senior seeking post high school education.

The selection committee will choose two honorees, one from each of Lewis Palmer District 38’s two high schools.  Decisions are final and based on the following criteria:
